My brand new Canon A590IS didn't survive a single day without Hardware and Software extensions. Immediately after purchase (it was surprisingly cheap for just €99,95 at Conrad) I loaded chdk (http://chdk.wikia.com) onto the memory card and built my own USB Remote cable from an old pocket lamp.

My brand new Palm TX lacked one very important feature: the microphone! My previous Palm handheld, the T3, had a built-in microphone. Fortunately, I found some people that managed to add microphones either internall or externall, with or without headset jack.
